CSV to Excel

Open messy CSV files as a properly typed .xlsx workbook.

Turn a raw CSV into a formatted Excel workbook with detected headers, real dates and numbers, frozen panes and auto-sized columns. Delimiter and encoding are sniffed automatically, so semicolon files from European systems just work.

What it does well

  • Automatic delimiter sniffing for comma, semicolon, tab and pipe files
  • Type inference that keeps ZIP codes and IDs as text, not numbers
  • Frozen header row, auto-fit column widths and a table filter applied for you

Common problems and fixes

Everything lands in column A.

The delimiter was mis-detected, usually because the header row uses a different separator than the body. Override it manually in the options panel.

Product codes like 00123 become 123.

Turn off auto-typing for that column in the preview grid, or enable “Treat all values as text”.
