The lookup returns #N/A for values that clearly exist.
One side has trailing whitespace or a number stored as text. Run the Data Cleaner on both columns, then retry.
The formula breaks after inserting a column.
VLOOKUP’s column index is positional. Regenerate as XLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH, both of which reference the column itself.
