Excel Password Protector
Lock sheets and workbook structure before you share a file.
Apply worksheet protection and workbook structure protection with a password, and choose exactly what stays editable — selecting cells, sorting, filtering, formatting. Protection is written into the file itself, so it holds when opened in Excel.

Common problems and fixes
Users can still edit cells after protecting.
Those cells are marked unlocked in their style. Enable “Lock all cells first” so protection actually applies to them.
Excel says the file needs repair after protecting.
The source was an .xls file converted on the fly. Convert it to .xlsx with the Workbook Converter first, then protect.
