Common problems and fixes

The file is still slow after optimising.

The bottleneck is probably calculation, not size. Check the volatile function and full-column reference findings and rework those formulas.

Conditional formatting disappeared.

Rules applied to entire columns are consolidated. Re-add them scoped to the real data range, which is faster anyway.

Frequently asked questions

What people say

Small thing, but the error messages actually tell you what to fix. Workbook Optimizer flagged a hidden character that had been breaking my lookups for weeks.

The preview before committing is the part that sold me — I could see exactly what workbook optimizer was going to change before it changed anything.

Exactly what I needed. Workbook Optimizer used to be a twenty-minute job with a macro I did not trust; now it takes one drag and one click.
